Perhaps the single most important reason for the thriving of OCC is the participation of women of the Odiya community in Houston in various aspects of running OCC. They organize festivals, serve on committees and OCC board of directors, lead outreach activities, participate in operations of the temple and contribute significantly to the financial well being of the organization. They are also the primary reason that children of the community stay connected to their Odiya roots through participation in cultural programs of OCC.
